Descriptif

Cheerful Hands Initiative (CHI) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on November 17, 2021, with registration number CAC/IT/NO/169552. CHI is dedicated to empowering the girl child and promoting education and development across local communities in Nigeria.

The organization’s mission focuses on reducing the high rates of girl-child school dropout providing education, child abuse, Child Early and Forced Marriages (CEFM), Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), poverty and eradicating systemic inequalities, advocating for human rights, and promoting a society free from discrimination, oppression, and violence. Through our programs, we:

  • Address gender disparities by empowering girls and women with education, skills, and economic opportunities.

  • Advocate against social injustices such as child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), gender-based violence (GBV), and discrimination against marginalized groups.

  • Promote equitable access to resources for youths, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

  • Encourage civic participation and policy reforms that support human rights, gender equality, and social inclusion

CHI aims to accomplish these objectives by supporting disadvantaged girls, women, boys, and youths living in underserved and marginalized communities through entrepreneurship, access to education, life skills training by providing livelihood, and promoting healthy living. Our support to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), refugees, and migrants, with special emphasis on vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities as part of our holistic approach, CHI emphasizes Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention, as one of its core mandates, by integrating mental health awareness, psychosocial support (MHPSS) and GBV prevention into its programs striving for a just and equitable society, free from discrimination and violence.
