Ecology Academy

The Ecological Academy is a non-governmental, non-profit educational and research center established to advance critical environmental thought and political ecology in Kurdistan. The Academy fosters ecological consciousness and collective responsibility through research, public education, and community-based engagement.

Politically, the Academy challenges extractivist, colonial, and unsustainable development models that harm both ecosystems and communities. It promotes ecological justice, democratic participation, and locally rooted alternatives grounded in social and environmental realities. Its objectives include strengthening environmental culture, supporting intergenerational ecological knowledge, and amplifying community-led ecological solutions.

The Academy operates through a small coordination team, volunteer researchers and trainers, and a broad network of activists and community educators. Its activities are carried out in community spaces, partner venues, and online platforms, encouraging inclusive dialogue and collective learning. Through collaboration with local and international partners, the Ecological Academy contributes to shared struggles for environmental justice and the construction of sustainable and just futures.
