IMCS Pax Romana

Founded in 1921 under the name Pax Romana to promote peace and international cooperation, the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS) established its Asia-Pacific coordination in 1954. Today, IMCS connects more than 80 national student federations worldwide and works with university and tertiary students to support leadership development, social engagement, and community building. In the Asia-Pacific region, the movement operates through four sub-regions: South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific, bringing together 14 national member organizations. Run by students for students, its regional coordination teams and international secretariat are elected by and accountable to student members. IMCS views students as important contributors to society and encourages their active participation in civic life, social justice initiatives, and collaborative action for the common good. Through its engagement with global platforms such as United Nations, UNESCO, International Labour Organization, and World Bank, students represent their own perspectives in international discussions. While rooted in historical values and traditions, the movement promotes inclusive dialogue, peacebuilding, and cooperation across cultures and beliefs.
