Quelle défense pour l'Humanité ?
Co-construire une alliance humaniste des forces de vie
De plus en plus les logiques de réarmement et de guerre et d’agression se manifestent sur la planète. Celles sont omniprésentes, surtout envisagées sous l'angle militaire. Mais la question militaire n'est pourtant qu'un sous ensemble, parfois (voire souvent) contre-productif de la défense de l'humanité. Il s’agit pour les citoyens et les forces sociales du monde de non seulement défendre l’Humanité, mais de promouvoir notre humanité et notre fraternité.
Qu'est ce qui menace vraiment l'humanité? Que devons-nous mobiliser pour la défendre? Pour prendre des exemples dramatiques récents, il nous faut défendre aussi bien l’Humanité face aux massacres du 7 octobre en Israël qu’ensuite à Gaza et en Palestine, qu’en Ukraine victime d’une agression militaire, qu’au Soudan aux prises avec une guerre civile atroce oubliée, dans les mers devenant de nouveaux cimetières pour migrants et partout où les plus faibles, les plus dépendants, les femmes sont exploités.
Quel avenir désirable pour l'humanité devrions nous défendre ?
Comment envisager la défense d'un « pays de la Terre où existeraient la responsabilité écologique, la justice sociale et le respect et l'approfondissement des droits fondamentaux; une planète où il ferait bon vivre, où s’organiserait une Humanité très diverse dans ses composantes mais consciente qu’elle doit franchir un saut qualitatif dans sa qualité d’humanité et son respect du vivant ;
Comment sortir des postures défaitistes ?
Nous sommes aujourd’hui en présence non seulement de trop d’indifférence, mais aussi d’un véritable défaitisme par rapport aux deux dangers majeurs que court l’humanité, le danger écologique de se retrouver avec une terre de plus en plus inhabitable et le danger éthique, politique, spirituel d’une humanité qui se détruit elle-même par sa propre violence.
La tâche essentielle est donc d’opposer à ce défaitisme et ce relativisme qui traversent tous les courants politiques et idéologiques (donc y compris spirituels et religieux) une vision transformatrice constructive de l’avenir qui inclut la lucidité sur le pire de l’inhumanité mais montre pour l’Humanité la possibilité de mobiliser ses forces de vie pour une Traversée vers une humanité plus intelligente et plus solidaire. C’est un enjeu qui articule non seulement le local et le global mais aussi l’intime et le planétaire.

Building a humanist alliance of life forces
The logic of rearmament, war and aggression is increasingly apparent on the planet. They are omnipresent, especially when seen from the military angle. But the military issue is only a sub-set, sometimes (even often) counter-productive, of the defence of humanity. For the citizens and social forces of the world, it is not just a question of defending humanity, but of promoting our humanity and fraternity.
What is really threatening humanity? What must we mobilise to defend it? To take some recent dramatic examples, we need to defend humanity in the face of the massacres of 7 October in Israel and then in Gaza and Palestine, in Ukraine, the victim of military aggression, in Sudan in the grip of an atrocious civil war that has been forgotten, in the seas that are becoming new cemeteries for migrants and everywhere where the weakest, the most dependent and women are exploited.
What desirable future for humanity should we be defending?
How can we envisage the defence of a country on Earth where ecological responsibility, social justice and respect for fundamental rights exist? A planet where it would be good to live, where Humanity would be organised in a way that is very diverse in its components but aware that it must take a qualitative leap in its quality as humanity and its respect for human rights?
How can we get away from defeatist attitudes?
Today we are faced not only with too much indifference, but also with a veritable defeatism about the two major dangers facing humanity: the ecological danger of ending up with an increasingly uninhabitable earth, and the ethical, political and spiritual danger of humanity destroying itself through its own violence.
The essential task, then, is to counter the defeatism and relativism that run through all political and ideological currents (including spiritual and religious ones) with a constructive vision of the future that includes lucidity about the worst of inhumanity, but also shows that humanity has the possibility of mobilising its life forces for a Journey towards a humanity that is more intelligent and more united. It's a challenge that links not only the local and the global, but also the intimate and the planetary.
